About This Role
JOB SUMMARY
The Assistant Director of Sales supports the Director of Sales in leading the hotel's sales activities and executing sales strategies to achieve revenue goals.
The position is responsible for driving business across various market segments, including Group, Corporate, Transient, and Association, while developing new business and strengthening long-term relationships with key customers.
The Assistant Director of Sales also supports the Sales team in maximizing revenue, achieving sales targets, and delivering exceptional customer service.
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Developing & Executing Sales Strategies
- Support the Director of Sales in developing and implementing sales strategies and action plans.
- Drive proactive sales activities to generate new business and increase revenue.
- Identify new business opportunities and develop existing accounts.
- Monitor market trends, customer needs, and competitor activity to identify opportunities.
- Support the development and implementation of sales promotions and initiatives.
Maximizing Revenue
- Support the Sales team in achieving individual and team revenue targets.
- Lead by example through active sales activities and personal booking goals.
- Identify opportunities to maximize revenue across different market segments.
- Support the team in developing effective sales strategies and closing business.
Managing Sales Activities
- Participate in sales calls, client meetings, customer events, trade shows, and sales missions.
- Support the team in acquiring new business and closing sales opportunities.
- Review and support the preparation of proposals, contracts, and customer correspondence.
- Ensure confirmed business is properly managed and handed over to the relevant departments.
Analyzing & Reporting on Sales Performance
- Analyze market and sales data to support business decisions.
- Work closely with Revenue Management to support accurate forecasting and revenue planning.
- Review sales performance and customer feedback to identify areas for improvement.
- Use sales systems and available data to monitor business performance and achieve hotel revenue goals.
Providing Exceptional Customer Service
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and business partners.
- Meet with customers before and after events to understand their needs and gather feedback.
- Ensure customer needs are understood and appropriate hotel services are recommended.
- Promote customer satisfaction, loyalty, and repeat business.
- Ensure the Sales team consistently delivers excellent customer service in accordance with hotel and brand standards.
Building Successful Relationships
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Work closely with Event Management, Revenue Management, and other hotel departments.
- Collaborate with GSO, Market Sales, Event Booking Center, and other sales channels to maximize business opportunities.
- Attend customer events, trade shows, and sales missions to strengthen business relationships.
- Support and develop positive relationships within the Sales team.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Previous experience as a Sales Manager in the hotel industry is required.
- Strong experience in hotel sales and business development.
- Proven experience in developing new business and managing existing accounts.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to achieve sales targets and contribute to overall hotel revenue goals.
- Strong leadership and teamwork skills.
Preferred
- Experience in Group, Catering, Corporate, or Event Sales.
- Experience in an international or luxury hotel environment.
- Previous experience in a Sales leadership or supervisory role.
- Business-level English communication skills.
- Experience with Marriott or other international hotel brands.
