[Overview of Business and Organizational Structure]

The AI Drug Development Division at NEC is advancing new drug discovery. We use NEC’s advanced AI technologies. We work with top pharmaceutical companies to speed up development. Our headquarters is in Japan. We also run global clinical trials with NEC Laboratories Europe, NEC Laboratories America, and our subsidiaries in the Netherlands, Norway, and Germany.

We seek life sciences expertise at the level of leading pharmaceutical companies. Our Translational Research team includes two members at headquarters and six overseas. The team leads R&D, runs validation experiments, and prepares proposals for pharmaceutical companies.

We also handle business development. All team members are in their 30s or 40s and hold Ph.D. degrees in life sciences. The team has a strong record of winning external funding, like CEPI and SCARDA. We also lead joint projects with universities and industry.

This position is mostly remote. Online meetings are essential for collaborating with international members. Most meetings are held in the late afternoon due to time differences.

[Job description]

Lead the development and execution of clinical research plans for immunotherapy in the fields of cancer, infectious diseases, and autoimmune diseases.

Evaluate the biological validity and clinical applicability of insights derived from AI predictions, and when necessary, design and conduct validation experiments to advance the research.

Analyze data and report findings to internal and external stakeholders.

Prepare clear business communication materials?including scientific overviews, executive summaries, data visualizations, and technical documents?to support business development.

Participate in technical due diligence of external technologies.

Support and Growth After Joining

After you join, your supervisor and mentor will guide you on how to apply your life science knowledge to this work. You will participate in meetings with researchers and pharmaceutical companies in Japan and overseas. This provides practical experience. After one year, you are expected to be able to lead projects by making use of your knowledge of drug discovery AI technology and business strategy.

応募資格 / Qualifications

For positions ranging from Chief to Professional

• These are requirements common to both Chief and Professional positions.

MUST

• Ph.D. in fields such as immunology, virology, or oncology
• at least 2 year experience in pharma or biotech in a matrixed international environements
• Language: Japanese and English (both at business level or higher)

WANT

Knowledge and experience in bioinformatics

Hands-on experience with cell and animal experiments

Background in pｃroteomics or mass spectrometry

Familiarity with regulatory processes in drug development

Experience studying or working abroad, or a TOEIC score of 800 or above

• 年収790万～990万円程度
• 月給52万～71万円程度（月額基本給41万～57万円程度を含む）

• 年収930万～1200万円程度
• 月給58万～80万円程度（月額基本給58万～80万円程度を含む）
